16 and Pregnant – Taylor

Taylor Lumas is from Cincinnati, Ohio.  Taylor is 15 and her boyfriend, Nathan, is a year older.  They only live a few blocks away from each other, which is good since neither one is old enough to drive.  I’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around that.  She’s pregnant, but they’re both too young to drive.  Serious brain cramps here.

My thoughts!

  • Taylor mentioned she wanted to put food coloring on tampons as a way of lying to her mom about getting her period.  I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t remember ever showing my mother my used tampons.
  • As in almost every other episode, both Taylor and Nathan live with their mothers and Taylor’s mother, Debi, got pregnant as a teenager.  The only difference is that Debi put that baby up for adoption.  Debi suggests adoption to Taylor, which does not make Taylor very happy.
  • Nathan doesn’t believe in adoption or abortion.  He believes children should always be with their birth parents.  I was going to mention how Nathan looks like a doofus, but decided to hold my tongue.  However, now he’s talking like a doofus.  I can understand not believing in abortion.  That subject is very controversial.  But he doesn’t believe in adoption?  What?  I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say that before.

  • Taylor’s sister, Jeana, comes over and starts giving Taylor and Nathan all these horror stories about how difficult parenting is, while Debi looks on from the sidelines.  I think this was an inside job.  Well played, Debi, well played…although it didn’t work.
  • Nathan is slacking on getting a job, which makes Taylor really annoyed with him.  She’s baby-sitting to make extra money while he’s just sitting on his ass.
  • Since both of their mothers work, either Taylor or Nathan needs to go to virtual school after Aubri, the baby, is born.  They both want the other to do it.  Taylor reluctantly ends up agreeing to it.
  • While Taylor is in labor, she starts crying which is understandable, but she cries like a really little girl, which reminds me again how young she is.  It made me kind of sad.
  • After Aubri was born, Nathan was great with her at first, but then he becomes a whiny little baby and refuses to help.  Taylor ends up taking care of Aubri by herself.  Then Nathan has the gall to call her lazy.  I don’t condone violence, but I kind of want to punch him in the face at this point.
Pull your pants up!
  • Jeana comes out with the best quote of the episode.  “Ya’ll are being very childish.”  She reminds me of me and my sisters…not one to mince words.
  • The next day, Taylor confronts Nathan where he asks her if she’s stupid, then she hits him with a pillow and he calls her an idiot.  Seriously?  After this, Debi gets all up in their business and scolds Nathan for being a lazy bum.
  • Taylor decides to talk to Nathan one-on-one again and he’s being all “whoa is me, I have to find a job, why does everyone hate me?”  Gah!

Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood Suicide Attempt?

Stop the presses!  Star magazine said something happened, so it must be true!  Wait, what?  According to a few different sources, Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood attemped suicide today.  She was reportedly found on the couch with a rope around her neck and appeared to have overdosed on pills.  It’s no secret that she’s on medication for anxiety and depression, but could she have taken it too far?  The optimist in me says that this is all a fabrication.  It was reported by a representative of Star after all, but with her history, who knows.  I only hope it’s a fake, for her sake and her daughter, Leah’s sake.

A quick follow-up story states:

Although there are reports about a possible overdose of pills and a noose around her neck, Mitch Carroll of the police department tells us “There were no visible signs of injury.” And he also said, “There was nothing to indicate that she had taken pills at the scene.” She was taken to the hospital for observation.

Obviously, everyone knows just about as much as I do, which is nothing.

I wish Amber a quick recovery and hope she gets the help she needs.

16 and Pregnant – Kianna

Kianna Randall is from Ft. Worth, Texas.  She’s 17 and her boyfriend, Zak, is 15.  Kianna wants to go to college to become a Veterinarian, but all that is put on hold when she becomes pregnant.

My thoughts on the episode:

  • Everyone in Texas loves football.  Learn something new every day.
  • Zak looks eerily like someone I went to High School with.  I was like, “Carlos?  Is that you?”
  • Okay, let me get this straight.  He’s 15, she’s 17, they were only together for 2 months before she got pregnant.  She hadn’t taken her birth control in 3 days.  They sound so responsible.
Well, that's a good idea right there.
  • Does anyone else notice how a lot of these teen moms were raised by teen moms?  Most of them seem to have absent fathers too.
  • Kianna’s mother is all mad and preaching to Kianna on how she didn’t want her to be a teen mom.  How hard it is, etc.  I can tell her right that it’s going in one ear and out the other.  When my mother told me that getting married at 19 was a stupid idea, I was all, “But you got married at 18.”  Yes.  I was a brat.
  • Kianna had thought about abortion and is now thinking about adoption.  When she brings it up to Zak, he is completely against it.  He actually refers to it as “the easy way out.”  I don’t know about you, but putting my baby up for adoption sounds like it would be one of the hardest things I could possibly do.
  • They end up deciding to keep the baby, because Zak promised he would help her care for it.  Nevermind that he lives far away and doesn’t have a car or even drive.
  • Kianna has $130 saved up, which she says is enough for 2 boxes of diapers.  I think she needs more practice in pricing things out.  Oh, and she also needs a whole lot more money.
  • Kianna gets induced because she’s at risk for Preeclampsia. A lot of the episode is spent watching her carrying around a jug that she pees into so they can test for it.

  • I just feel like I have to mention this. Kianna has a friend named Pooh.  Now I am dying to know how she ended up with that nickname.
Best. Name. Ever.
  • After Kay’den is born, Kianna is falling all over herself with sleep deprivation, since she’s the only one taking care of the baby.  Zak has to rely on his mother to give him rides.

Teen Mom Season 3 Previews Featuring Farrah and Catelynn

I previously posted the Amber Portwood preview for the third season of Teen Mom and we now have the Catelynn Lowell and Farrah Abraham previews!  We just need Maci Bookout and the gang will be all here!

Not that you asked for it, but here's a little known fact about me: When I first started watching Teen Mom in the middle of the first season, I badly wanted Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra to break up.  Catelynn just rubbed me the wrong way and I have no idea why.  I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that now since I love Catelynn and Tyler together.  They are just so cute.

Okay, enough about me, here are the previews!  If I can dig up the Maci one, I'll post it.

The Official Teen Mom Season 3 Trailer!

Guess what?  MTV has finally put up the official trailer for the third season of Teen Mom!  From the trailer, I can already tell that Maci changes her hair another 47 times and Leah looks pretty much exactly like her dad.  Honestly, the season doesn't look a whole lot different from previous seasons: Amber Portwood is still mean, Gary Shirley is still arguing with her, Ryan Edwards is still hot, and Butch is still hanging around.  I can't wait!

Teen Mom Season 3 Preview Featuring All The Girls

Yesterday, I posted the Teen Mom season 3 preview that focused all on Amber Portwood.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find one with Farrah Abraham, Maci Bookout, or Catelynn Lowell, which was pretty disappointing.  I mean, I like Amber and all, but I want to see the others too!

My prayers were answered today.  I found a preview with all of them!  And I even got to see Ryan Edwards.  Have I mentioned how much I heart him?  Don't judge.

Here's the preview, which is also of crappy quality, just like the one yesterday.  But at least it whets our appetite until the new season starts July 5th!
